[] CIGS PV module reliability factors
September 5, 2011
find out
efficient and flexible PV module reliability is affected CIGS technology is vulnerable to humidity. The most vulnerable is the intrusion of humidity from the module package, it enters the transparent conductive oxide TCO photovoltaic cells, while the TCO layer in CIGS thin film solar.
participate in PVMRW meeting include DowCorning, Du Pont, Saint Gobain, Mitsubishi Plastics and 3M, they propose a variety of effective methods to prevent the intrusion of humidity, especially for CIGS cells. If confirmed TCO humidity is a major factor in the CIGS technology, NREL recommended that those who spend more and unconfirmed packaging solutions also do not need.
PVMRW meeting many CIGS manufacturers have raised the reliability of the solution. SoloPower just announced from the U.S. DOE loan of U.S. $ 197M plan to build a new factory in Oregon, to avoid the effect of CIGS manufacturing of effect so flight soaking (light-induced wet). Solarion their CIGS in the glass – the glass packaging and flexible packaging reliability. Ascent Solar (ASTI) of CIGS accelerated erosion and the Nanosolar proposed CIGS designed to avoid the water, thought to improve reliability. In addition, such as ADCO provides the adhesives can improve the reliability of edge sealing, and other adhesives in BIPV applications program can be applied to flexible CIGS.
Sun power of the report enlightening, it proposed a variety of system failure modes, from a large number of them yield historical data to understand the importance of reliability. Sun power mergers Power state is the light may help them compare various manufactured products in a number of years in the functional data. Exchange in the PVMRW meeting of each company failure data is an important symbol of the meeting. To illustrate the point, Sunpower modules have solved the reliability problem.
CIGS thin commitment
CIGS thin with the advantages of low cost and can be deposited on flexible substrates. Recent U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the SunShot has by a plan for the cost of PV systems decreased by 75%, to about $ 1 per watt. Flexible CIGS photovoltaic modules have been able to provide the level of production to the DOE. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory NREL claims that use of flexible PV modules replace the traditional glass substrate, allows the amount of production costs fell to U.S. $ 0,17-0,94 per watt.
reliability with geographical features
the first time I heard about reliability with the geographical characteristics. All modules require a set of tests to improve the confidence of today photovoltaic products. Obviously, the above test with the actual life of the PV products is not there is a certain link. Pass the test only indicates the possibility of long-lived, the test reflects only the applications for the hot, wet regions, the total explanation of the failure mechanism.
specific geographical reliability test results than the cold, wet environment more advantages in the hot dry environment. Advice and Rommel Noufi of NREL highways today compared to the PV industry is very similar to it. Speak those words to the meaning of the high-speed routing various manufacturers to work together to complete, while driving a variety of vehicles. Very similar to many from the various regions of the PV manufacturers, they have a variety of solutions.
in the PV MRW conference focused on three aspects of crystalline silicon, focus on PV and thin film PV. CIGS thin film solar cells discussions dominated may be related to the cost and efficiency. Would like to thank everyone efforts to find humidity is the culprit, I believe the future PV market will have a greater development of photovoltaic products should have more than 20 years of reliable service life.

Arthurs Seat chairlift ups its terms
Victoria is again advertising for a new Arthurs Seat chairlift
operator.
This time it will be offered under a 50-year lease – up from the
20 – year lease offered last year – in a bid to re-open the popular
tourist attraction that has been closed since May 2006.
Parks Victoria call for a new operator comes as the
chairlift long- time operator, Richard Hudson – who was stripped
of the right to run the lift after refusing to comply with WorkSafe
orders to modify the chairlift following three separate accidents
from 2003 to 2006 – pleads to Premier John Brumby to intervene.
Andrew Minack, Parks Victoria general manager for commercial
business, said the first expression-of-interest process last
November failed to identify a company that was prepared to invest
in a new chairlift under the original terms.
“The longer term reflects the need for the lease to be
commensurate with the level of investment (required) and is
consistent with the leases available at Pt Nepean and Mt Buffalo
Chalet, “he said.
” With a longer lease, we are confident we will find a new
operator for the chairlift.
“Parks Victoria is keen to see this popular attraction back in
business.”
Mr Minack said new legislation supporting the longer lease would
be introduced into State Parliament in the new year. Applications
close at 2pm on September 22.
>> Richard Hudson plea to
the Premier STRONG>
FOR every hour the Arthurs Seat chairlift remains forlorn and
lifeless a local business loses money, says former operator Richard
Hudson.
Mr Hudson wrote to Premier John Brumby last week, inviting him
to visit the “sorry sight”.
” I am confident that when you hear (my) story first hand, you
will not only be astonished that it has been allowed to get to this
stage, but also that you will be able to influence government < br /> departments to ensure that a Parks Victoria lease is granted to me
without delay, “he wrote.
Mr Hudson told the Premier the wire mesh
machine < / STRONG> STRONG> rockfall
fence STRONG> STRONG> erected by Parks Victoria around the
chairlift entrance at the summit was a blight on a beautiful
landscape and a sad reflection of bureaucracy at work.
There was no reason for it not to be running again, he told the
Leader.
Mr Hudson said the lift had been rebuilt to the latest standards
– it was virtually a brand new machine STRONG> STRONG> with new pylons, a
new drive, table, brakes and controls.
“It is state-of-the-art,” he said.

(Indie Pop) Chairlift – Something 2012
Posted: Left Bank impression
Artist: Chairlift
Album: Something
Genre: Indie Pop
Release Date: 2012
Bitrate: VBR
Sampler: Cool As A Fire
Chairlift second full-length,
Something, is a major creative leap, but on a superficial level,
it not that different from their debut. They e still mining
uncool and untapped corners of 1980s pop for inspiration, and
singer Caroline Polachek has doubled down on a vocal style that
alternates between joyfully expressive and charmingly deadpan. But
the melodies are bolder, the arrangements have more snap and < br /> sparkle, and Polachek has thankfully moved beyond the first album
overly cerebral lyrics to embrace emotionally potent lines that
explore the subtler dynamics of romantic relationships and the
evolution of character.
Of course, Chairlift aren exactly the same group that broke
into the outskirts of the mainstream when their 2008 hit “Bruises”
found its way into an Apple ad. Founding member Aaron Pfenning
split with the group after his romantic relationship with Polachek
ended. (He now has an atmospheric disco project called Rewards.)
Now a duo, Polachek and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Wimberly have
a different chemistry. Wimberly, a producer on several Das Racist
tracks, excels at composing slick music that retains force and
physicality, which suits Polachek voice and melodies. As a
result, Something is cleaner and more elegant, buffing their crisp
electronic pop to an immaculate sheen.
Polachek presence fades when the music gets too inert, but
Chairlift turn that potential liability into a strength on two of < br /> Something most beautiful tracks: On “Frigid Spring” and
“Turning”, she pushes her voice to a breathy, ethereal extreme.
More often, though, her voice is lucid and assertive . She
excellent with subtle phrasing, selling wry lyrics without getting
too smirky, and conveying infatuation without sounding overly
elated. She especially fond of Robert Smith-like exclamations,
sometimes ending a key line with excited verbal punctuation. Her
voice is technically proficient-she sometimes recalls Fleetwood
Mac Christine McVie-but her main strength lies in how clearly
her personality comes across in these songs . Whether she giving
voice to a maniac in “Sidewalk Safari” or gushing with love in “I
Belong in Your Arms”, Polachek sounds totally comfortable and in
control.
Though it obvious that Polachek is often singing from the
vantage point of characters (we obviously have heard about it if
she actually ran someone down in her car), the emphasis on emotion
and relationships is key to Something success. It notable that
their debut best song, “Bruises”, was a straight-up love song,
while the clunkiest tracks belabored conceits that felt
self-consciously imposed on the music. The most resonant lines on
Something are disarmingly direct: “If I gave you what you e asking
for, you know you wouldn want it anymore,” ” Does my love only
count if it proved?, “” My heart is beating fast and I wish that I
knew why. “Polachek still indulges in high concept, but with more
grace and nuance, as on “Amanaemonesia”, where she meditates on the
cultural and psychological power of healing rituals. She even
more successful on “Guilty as Charged”, in which her verses lay out
an elaborate trial metaphor that contrasts nicely with her cutting
to the core of her character emotional dilemma on the chorus.
The song on Something that gets me in the gut is “I Belong in
Your Arms “, a declaration of uncomplicated affection that makes the
most of the band embrace of faster tempos and open-hearted
lyrics. Chairlift couldn have pulled off a track like this back
when they made pop music with scare quotes, footnotes, and caveats.
But now that they e backed away from those defense mechanisms,
they e allowed themselves to go all the way in expressing a
powerful sentiment. There are many songs out there that echo the
tone and message of “I Belong in Your Arms”, but this one is no
less joyous or affecting for lacking a unique concept. In cutting
away their baggage and hang-ups, Chairlift have opened themselves
up to writing truly great pop.

02 – Wrong Opinion < br />
03 – I Belong In Your Arms
04 – Take It Out On Me

Band of the Week Chairlift

It been nearly four years since art-pop revivalists Chairlift released their debut album, Does You Inspire You I>, a concept-heavy mélange of looped synths and shimmery vocal effects that-with the help of a charming iPod commercial-introduced the world to the catchy single “Bruises.” For duo Caroline Polachek B> and Patrick Wimberley B> ( Aaron Pfenning, < / B> Polachek ex-boyfriend and the band third member, officially left the group in 2010), getting back in the saddle meant heading to Las Vegas, where they performed a series of clandestine shows in preparation for their sophomore effort, Something I>, out today.
“We did a secret week at a casino to try out new songs,” says Polachek, who, like Wimberley and Pfenning, moved to Brooklyn in 2006 after the three met at the University of Colorado. “We played twice a night to a mix of die-hard fans who had driven from hours away, and a couple of old people who couldn care less and were just there to gamble. It was kind of surreal. Like something David Lynch B> had directed, ” she jokes.
On the whole, Something I> is much softer around the edges than Does You Inspire You I>-probably thanks to producer and dance-pop veteran Dan Carey. B> Meanwhile, Polachek love of all things cinematic (“Film is the ultimate medium of our age, ” she says) translates to even more abstract melodies and avant-garde retro imagery. The lo-fi video for the tongue -twistery “Amanaemonesia,” the record first single, for instance, sees Polachek prancing, Michael Scott-style, around a bare studio in a pistachio-green leotard.
Despite being arguably the most Brooklyn of all the Brooklyn bands to emerge from the post-Williamsburg electro scene of the late aughts, Chairlift sensibility at times seems almost European. “Lately, I e been listening to a lot of big mid-80s French pop, ” says the 26- year-old Polachek, who recently dueted on a French-language track with Violens. ” Particularly this lady Mylène Farmer. It got this epic, eternal feeling you just don get in American music. ” Would the self- described Francophile ever leave the New York music scene with which her band is synonymous and go Gaulle? “I have all these fantasies about of moving to the French coast, ” she admits. ” But then I think, Oh, what if my synth breaks? That like a whole week to find somewhere to get it fixed! “
